Our School of Lambs & Ivy

 .

Peanut loves her Jr. Shepherdess Students give a school presentation

The School of Lambs & Ivy is a 3- season fiber/farm club that seeks to give our students hands-on experience in working with animals and being involved in the seasonal cycle of farm life. The students not only learn what animals give us in food and clothing, but also how we must care for them and the land and work together to accomplish our goals. Our school teaches students to strategize, organize, start and complete the tasks given for the day and this in turn helps to develop self-confidence, leadership skills and a sense of responsibility. We will work closely with each child to develop natural given gifts and talents.

All classes are from 9:00 to1:00 pm on Saturday mornings and continue throughout the year in six-week sessions. The School of Lambs & Ivy is designed for student's ages 9-15. We encourage all students with any or no previous experience to come and join us! After completing a series of 3- six-week sessions, students will receive a "Junior Shepherd" certificate.

The summer session will run on a special schedule. Each session will include 6 classes. Please check our current session schedule for exact dates. Cost $75.00 each session. Scholarships are available. Please ask.

Working the 23rd Psalm is an "adult" form of the School of Lambs & Ivy. It is designed for adults who are interested in starting a flock or current shepherds who would like to learn more about lambing, maintaining a healthy flock (medicals & deworming), efficient fencing and pasture rotation. Contact us for special arrangements to meet your needs.

We have classes for both children and adults.

FEED MY SHEEP

Many people have asked to come and visit the farm and so the Feed My Sheep program was formed to meet this need. Private groups including local preschools and elementary students come and spend a few hours at the farm visiting the flock and learning about many wooly products. As weather permits, groups may chose to stay and have a box lunch on the farm or bring their own bag lunch.

 We Offer the Following Programs:

Visit the Sheep Barn
Meet the sheep up close, talk to them and feel their fine, warm fleeces. See how gentle they are.
Learn how we care for them, what they eat and how we keep them healthy.
Take home a bag of their soft fuzzy wool!
Approx. 1 1/2 hrs. in length, $6 per person, as a single Program.

Fiber Making Project
Hands-on project, you can make a project to take home.
Please select from the following:
· Making Wool Felt ~ 8 Yrs. +
· Spinning Wool into Yarn ~ 8 Yrs.+
· Make Your Own Woolly Lamb ~ 5 Yrs. +
Approx. 1 1/2 hrs. in length, $6 per person, as a single Program.

If both Programs are combined, the cost per person is $10. We reserve the time for your group only so that you can actually be hands-on involved and not just on lookers. Sessions can be scheduled between 9:00am – 2:00pm.

Minimum Group Attendance ~ 10
Maximum Group Attendance ~ 100
**Groups over 30 will be split up and rotated through the different programs
